The St. Louis Blues have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs after seven games against the Winnipeg Jets. It was an incredible series and the Blues should not hang their heads by how they performed.
It was an emotional loss, with a catastrophic collapse in the final 120 seconds of the third and then a double overtime, double deflection goal to end the miracle run.
Head coach Jim Montgomery had a fantastic sound bite at the end of his post game press conference, and his words about his team should echo throughout every Blues fans heart.

This team has taken great strides
Overall, the Blues had a very successful season. It wasn’t supposed to end like it did, as it was supposed to end a while sooner than the first round of the playoffs. After the preseason and the first few games of the 2024-25 season, the anticipation was for the NHL Draft Lottery.
As Montgomery stated, this team has a very high ceiling, and they nearly hit it. Obviously, a first-round exit is still a first-round exit, but there is hope and expectation that the Blues will be able to return to the playoffs again next season. Next time, they can go even further.
How far they will go remains to be seen. But after a successful season in 2024-25, a coach who firmly believes in these players, and a fan base that is expecting more, things are looking up.
