On General Manager Alexander Steen's first day in office, he has made some announcements as to who else will be joining the front office. This is a big day for the Blues as Free Agency is set to begin.

Keith Tkachuk, who was just announced as a member of the 2026 class of the Hockey Hall of Fame, gets a promotion to become an advisor to the President of Hockey Operations. He will report right to Armstrong, not Steen.

Joining him in the promotion line is Chris Thorburn, as he now becomes the Director of Player Development. That was similar to Steen's old job prior to taking Doug Armstrong's position as GM.

Robert Burtozzo, who was a member of the Blues for 10 seasons as a player and most recently as a part-time scout, will now go full-time with the Blues. Burtozzo was on the 2018-19 Stanley Cup-winning team and was a beloved player during his tenure here.

Another name under the guise of Armstrong holding onto his President of Hockey Operations title will be Shane Malloy, who is now the director of strategic planning. With the rising salary cap and next season's anticipated free-agency class being one of the biggest ever, the Blues are trying to get ahead of the game with a great hire in the financial department.

The Blues are entering a new era with Steen as the man in charge. Today's free agency, which will kick off in a few minutes, will either be very loud or very quiet. No matter how it goes, more changes are afoot, and this team is going to look completely different next season.
