Riding a three-game point streak, the St. Louis Blues are set to get a little revenge against one of the NHL's best, the Winnipeg Jets. After narrowly being defeated 3-2 on October 22nd, the Blues have a new look and a new attitude for their rematch.
Here are some things to look out for in game number 26 of the season.
This Time, They Have An Advantage
The Blues are riding a new vibe these days, with mediocre hockey seemingly in the wind, and playoff contenders have started to have a nice ring to it. Of course, even though they have changed their perspective of things, one thing must remain abundantly clear, the Jets are a scary good hockey team.
At 18-7 for 36 points, the Jets are tied with the Minnesota Wild for the best record in the League. Additionally, this season, only the Washington Capitals have a better goal differential at +32, over the Jets at +31. They have been led by their 1-2 punch in Mark Sheifele and Kyle Connor, who have both netter 12 and 13 goals each on the year, respectively. Looking at their stat sheet, they have five members of their roster that have already eclipsed 20+ points on the year. Outside of Connor and Scheifele are Nikolaj Ehlers, John Morrissey, and Neal Pionk.
Comparing that to the Blues, they only have one member to hit the 20-point plateau, which is center Jordan Kyrou. Talk about a vast divide in scoring. But, on any given night, the puck luck will go in someone's favor, so why not the Blues? One player to watch for in this one is defenseman Colton Paryko, who is the backbone this team needs to succeed.
Behind the bench, Jim Montgomery will face off against the Jets for the first time as the head coach of the Blues. He has been outstanding at changing the morale of this hockey club in his first three games, but this will be a true test to see how much he can motivate this team. This circumstance might be one of the only times to say that a coach would be an X-factor in a game.
Will the Blues get their revenge against rival Jets on Tuesday night?
