A Statement To Be Made
The Blues' home opener in 2024 was, to say the least, embarrassing. On October 15th, 2024, the Blues not only lost 4–1 to the Minnesota Wild, but the Wild’s goaltender Filip Gustavsson put the icing on the cake by scoring an empty net goal. First and foremost, I believe this will be a statement game—a message to the fans that they won’t be pushed around in their own house.
“The Tarasenkshow”
While I am admittedly a die-hard Blues fan, I’m also a hockey enthusiast, and Vladimir Tarasenko, now with the Minnesota Wild, was an elite goal scorer with the St. Louis Blues. He is currently fifth in all-time goal scorers in the Blues organization. Therefore, I predict Vladdy will score one on home ice tonight, and yes, I said home ice. Once a Blue, always a Blue.
Off To A Great Start
Mathieu Joseph was the only goal scorer in last year's home opener. He also tends to excel at the start of the season. In the 2024-2025 season, Joseph scored two goals and earned 4 points in October. Unfortunately, he didn't earn another point until January 27th, 2025, when he assisted against the Vancouver Canucks. Mathieu is already having a good start this season, impressing at camp. This success should carry over into the regular season, and if it’s anything like last opener, Joseph should have a strong start, including scoring a goal.
A Goal Scorer's Goal
With thirty-six goals last season, I fully expect Jordan Kyrou to lead the team again this season. The question is, can he reach forty or more goals? I don't believe the Blues organization is worried about whether Jordan Kyrou hits forty goals, but rather if he continues to develop as a player. That said, as a fan, it's fun to make predictions, and I predict Jordan Kyrou will score two goals in the opener. He’s the team's leader, and I expect him to guide his teammates into the season.
Gordie Howe Hat Trick
In his first regular-season game with the St. Louis Blues, Logan Mailloux earns a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. I know, it sounds absurd, but he has all the qualities to make it happen. We’ve seen him pass the puck to his teammates. Although he hasn't scored many goals yet, he has the touch and vision to find open ice. On September 27th, 2025, Logan Mailloux showed Blues fans that he can fight too when he traded punches with Colton Dach of the Chicago Blackhawks during a preseason game.
Final Score
Blues – 3
Wild – 1
