The St. Louis Blues might have suffered the worst loss in their franchise's history on Monday against the Nashville Predators. It is not worth rehashing just how bad it was, but if you follow this team and root for them, it cuts deep to the core.
This two-game road trip is rallied by the players' dads and mentors coming along. This first loss to Nashville put a bunch of salt in the wound of this season, and it was a perfect representation of how the 2025-26 campaign has gone.
Can they figure it out in the last game prior to the Olympic Break?
Show off for Dad
The Blues got off to a hot start against Nashville, potentially their best performance of the season in the first 25 minutes. Then, it all rolled downhill, and now the questions arise once again as to who, what, when, and how these players will be moved to usher in the next era of Blues hockey. It is a shame that it happened in front of these players' idols.
This Dad's and Mentor's trip is a powerful stretch, becuase these players get to go out there and show off to the people that gave them the ability to get to where they are today. The early morning hockey practices, the long road-trips to tournaments, and the unconditional love from their biggest supporter has led to being in the highest level of competitive hockey in the world, the NHL.
One more game in Dallas and then the dads and mentors head home, and the Blues players split up between the Olympics in Italy and their homes. The season is free-falling as we speak, but for one more game, it might be the Blues' last chance to salvage something out of this year.
Go out there and show off for Dad. But, this time, win the game.
