The St. Louis Blues continue their short two-game homestand against Metropolitan Division opponents, with tonight featuring the New Jersey Devils.

After taking three points in their back-to-back games against the Dallas Stars and New York Rangers, they turn the page to their last game at home until after Christmas.

Let’s preview the game.

Big tilt against a good team

To say this isn’t a big game is an understatement. The Blues handily took the first game of this two-game season series with a 3-0 shutout on November 27. That night, goaltender Jordan Binnington became the all-time winningest goalie in franchise history, with 152 wins.

Both teams have been great since their last matchup, as the Blues have a record of 4-2-2, and the Devils have had a record of 5-2–1. Both teams are firing on all cylinders at this point of the season, and both have a playoff appearance on their mind.

For the Blues, no one has been better this month than forward Robert Thomas. He is riding a seven-game point streak, potting four goals and adding nine more assists. He alongside Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich will be players to watch for.

Another set of players to watch for, and one of the big takeaways from the Blues last contest against the Rangers, is the defensive pairing of Colton Parayko and Cam Fowler. The duo was outstanding, and they shut down a very good offensive unit and will have to once again against the fifth-best team in the NHL in scoring.

The Devils have played the most amount of games so far this season, having tied both the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks with 33. Their key players to watch will be their three-headed monster, Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Brett. All three have lit the lamp a lot this season, and all three have more points than the Blues highest scorer.
