With just under a week until the 2026 NHL Draft, there has been an uptick in trades and moves. We have seen Brady Tkachuk head down to Florida, Simon Nemec head up to Calgary and now, the St. Louis Blues have gotten in on the action.

Jordan Kyrou has been traded to the Washington Capitals for the 16th overall pick, Connor McMichael and Milton Gastrin, as reported by Elliotte Friedman.

This is a huge trade just a few days away, as another piece of the previous core group has been moved in an effort to usher in a new era of Blues hockey. What a move in his final days by General Manager and President of Hockey Operations, Doug Armstrong.

Four first-round picks

The Blues now hold the 11th, 15th, 16th and 29th pick in the upcoming draft. The possibilities are now endless as to what this franchise can do.

McMichael is the sweetener here, as he is a solid center that could fill in nicely in the second-line role. He had 14 goals and 32 assists last season for 46 points, and can be a part of the youth movement at just 25-years-old. Gastrin is another nice piece to tack on, as he is also a left-handed center that was selected by the Caps last season in the second round.

For Kyrou, he ends his tenure with the Blues after 168 goals, 210 assists for 378 points in 488 games. He waived his No-Trade Clause, and is given a solid chance of helping the Capitals improve in the Metropolitan Division.
