There is no hotter team in the National Hockey League right now than the St. Louis Blues. This team is flying high at the right time, and the hope is that it will correlate to a potential playoff appearance and deep run.

After destroying the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, 6-1, for their seventh straight win, they look to complete the season series sweep of the Nashville Predators.

This is the third time in six games that these two teams have faced off against each other. Let’s give this one a preview.

Can the Blues stay hot?

This is another test of not underestimating your opponent. It is no secret that the Predators are at the bottom of the NHL barrel, but this is an easy game for the Blues to lose. A team with nothing to lose is far more dangerous than one with everything to lose.

For the Blues, at 38-28-7 for 83 points, they are within range of not only the first wildcard spot, but the third place in the Central Division. The first wildcard team is the Minnesota Wild, with 85 points. The third place team in the division is held by Colorado, with 93 points.

Nashville, which has a record of 27-36-8 for 62 points, is in seventh place in the Central Division. They have had some rotten luck this season and are about to have a very confusing offseason. Do they try to get additional help for Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg or build the future? Either way, if they lose, this game only helps the Predators, as it will help their draft position.

This is the first time in two seasons that the Blues have won seven games in a row. If they can make it eight, this will be the first time since they did it twice in 2019-20 and the fourth time overall in team history.

Joel Hofer is in net for the Blues. The puck drop is set for 7:00 PM CT in Nashville.
