The St. Louis Blues have made another trade, and this time it is for consideration in the future. In a deal involving the Pittsburgh Penguins, defenseman Pierre-Oliver Joseph has gone back to his former team.
Joseph, who signed a one-year, $950,000 contract for this season, appeared in 23 games this season and registered a pair of assists. He also now leaves the opportunity to continue playing with his brother, Mathieu, who is a right-winger on the Blues.
This is a big deal for the Blues, as they now have a favor in hand from the Penguins. That could be a player, or even a draft pick throw-in if they choose to trade with them again.
Still on the "trade block" is defenseman Nick Leddy, who continues to sit out due to injury. In all likelihood, he will be traded at some point, and if the Blues play their cards right, they can grab a potential top-six forward with it. And with the offense currently on a downward spiral, they certainly need it.
Joseph will be a good fit in Pittsburgh, especially being a younger D-man on one of the oldest teams in the NHL. There are a lot of leaders on that team that could reel him in and hone his skills. It just wasn't the right fit with the Blues, and that happens.
Do you think the Blues will make any more moves over the next couple of days?
