Blues may have already seen the best of Alexandre Texier

Alexandre Texier wasn’t the most impactful player on the Blues, but he played well in a supplementary role.

Alexandre Texier only saw time in 31 contests and logged primarily fourth-line minutes. So, at first glance, it doesn’t look like he did much in his first season with the Blues. He was rather invisible, if you want the honest truth, but Texier also wasn’t bad when he got his chance to take the ice.

Since his impact didn’t account for much, it’s easier to say that Texier is on the outside and looking in on this team’s young core, having finished up his age-25 season. Still, he showed enough potential this year and in the preceding seasons when he was with the Columbus Blue Jackets to warrant another look from Blues fans.

Grade: C - Texier was the very definition of average with no real standout statistics, basic or advanced. Still, he brings good size and reliable play, making him an ideal lower-liner when the Blues need to find a way to regain puck possession. But if this team takes the next step in the offseason and 2025-26, he’s likely a 13th/14th forward.

Alexandre Texier’s 2024-25 season was, well, unimpressive

Texier’s numbers were rather stagnant, with 11 points, six goals, and a minus-3 in 31 games. He averaged 12:29 of total ice time and landed 20 body checks on the season. If anything did stand out, it was his 12.0 shooting percentage, not a bad number for a fourth liner who got limited opportunities.

That said, his on-ice shooting percentage at even strength was just 9.8, so he wasn’t on the ice for many opportunities. But when he got that opportunity, Texier made the most of it. He also enjoyed a 91.0 on-ice save percentage in that same situation, so defensively, he gave the Blues a reliable game.

Overall, Texier’s play wasn’t going to win any end-of-season award, but if the Blues want somebody for depth, they can’t go wrong with a player like Texier. He showed the potential to step up when the Blues called his number, and if that’s the kind of play he brings, it’s good enough in a depth role.

What will Alexandre Texier’s play look like in 2025-26?

With another year remaining on his contract, look for Alexandre Texier to try and stay healthier for the 2025-26 season, which may lead to more ice time. But, with some youngsters coming into the mold, he might find it a little tougher to hit the ice game after game, meaning a season as a part-timer could be the more realistic option.

Still, it wouldn’t surprise me if Texier played in about half the Blues games in 2025-26 and logged similar numbers. Something like 15-17 points and eight goals would be realistic. But Texier isn’t in town to score points, so a low productivity output shouldn’t concern anyone.

If he skates in there and does a serviceable job, the organization and fans will appreciate it. And he’s proven he can provide reliable play now with two different franchises.
