On Tuesday night, the Blues have a chance to end this season on a high note and push themselves into the playoffs against Central Division rival, the Utah Hockey Club. Let’s give this one a preview.
One last chance to dance
The Blues and Utah have met on three previous occasions this season. The series is 2-1 in Utah’s favor, and even though they don’t have anything else to play for, they can play spoilers for the Blues.
Usually, there would be one or two players to highlight here for the players to watch, but for this game, every single member of this team has a music note on their jersey. Every player that steps out on the ice must treat this game as a playoff game, with utmost urgency, because if they lose, it’s all over. They cannot give the Calgary Flames, who have been red-hot over their last 10 games, any chance to overtake them. Is it time to panic yet?
Defenseman Philip Broberg will be back in the lineup after missing the games against Seattle due to personal reasons. Tyler Tucker is out.
This could have been avoided a couple of games ago. The Blues squandered opportunities against Winnipeg and Edmonton, then luckily picked up a point in a game they should have won against Seattle. To still have the ball in their court is a blessing at this point.
Win and in
That is all there is to it. Win the game in regulation and get ready for your first-round opponent. Utah is a strong hockey team, which narrowly sat in the Blues shoes, had they not gone on two separate five-game losing streaks this season. As a young team, with a fresh face and a brand new fan base behind them, they have all the makings of being a great team in the future.
The Blues will have their hands full, but the crowd at the Enterprise Center will be there to cheer them on. The puck drop is set for 7:00 PM CT.
