The St. Louis Blues have finally reached the end of their preseason schedule, with a final game in Chicago on Saturday night. This is the last chance for many players to try and make an everlasting impact on head coach Jim Montgomery, General Manager Doug Armstrong, and the rest of the front office.

Three players immediately jump off the board as guys that could make the opening night lineup. They are all playing against the Blackhawks.

Dalibor Dvorsky

This is it for Dalibor Dvorsky. This is the last chance for him to make an impact on the opening night call-sheet, or it is back to Springfield until he is inevitably called up.

The Blues have made some room for him on the wing alongside Brayden Schenn and Jake Neighbours, which would make up a very tangible third-line. Can he live up to the hype and put together one more masterclass against the Blackhawks.

Hunter Skinner

If you can split this into two separate players to watch, it is defensemen Hunter Skinner and Logan Mailloux. The third-line pairing is only going to have room for one more player, alongside Tyler Tucker, and one of these two is going to make it.

For Skinner, he has earned some high praise from Montgomery, and there is a feeling that he might edge out Mailloux. He has been prodcutive with the puck, and has grown a lot in a short amount of time this preseason.

Logan Mailloux

The last player to watch and the possible third-line defenseman with Tyler Tucker could very well be Mailloux. There is a solid chance that he gets the position over Skinner, not only because of skill, but because of how the Blues got him.

The Blues are not going to let a player that they traded a rising star forward for sit in the AHL. That will not fly. If Mailloux can string together another solid game, there might be enough reason to start him on opening night.
