After so many months, weeks, and days without St. Louis Blues hockey, we all finally got to see the Blue Note back in action. On Friday night, in the Tom Kurvers Showacase in Minnesota, the prospects faced off against one another in a spirited 6-4 Blues win.
The main draw from the 60 minutes of ruthless aggression shown by the up-and-comers was that General Manager Doug Armstrong's vision has come to life. Five first round selections were on display for the Blues, and each had a significant impact on the game.
Dvorsky is going for it all
Dalibor Dvorsky, who has a legitimate chance of making the big club out of Training Camp, shined with a jump in his step. The number one thing that was missing from his game was his skating, and after seeing him suit up for the first time in the 2025-26 season, it looks like it might now be a strength for him. He also scored a goal in this matchup to open this game up.
For him to make it out of camp and not be assigned back to the AHL level, he may need to find himself on the wing. Ideally, Dvorsky could be a replacement for recently traded Zack Bolduc, and he has expressed his interest in moving off of his primary position.
“I’m open to it,” Dvorsky said. “That’s the coach’s decision — whatever he decides — but yeah, I’ve played on the wing as well. I’ll just try to do my best on the ice.”
Carbonneau looked better than advertised
For the first time, we got to see 2025 first-round selection Justin Carbonneau in action with the Blues. Watching no. 68 on the ice was like watching a full-time NHLer who has established himself in the league already.
He was swift, tough, and creative. Carbonneau aided Dvorsky on his opening goal of the game with a nice backhand feed off the goaltender, while passing beneath the net.

The expectations for this 19-year-old continue to rise. Much like Jimmy Snuggerud did last season, the prospect of Carbonneau joining the big club this season when it gets to be the end of the year seems more and more likely. All the teams in the QMJHL should go on notice that the Carbonneau they faced last season before being drafted and going through two sets of training camp, is not the same they will face in 2025-26.
