The St. Louis Blues are getting ready to start their December with a tilt against the Anaheim Ducks. Before that happens later tonight, some early morning news happened that is going to shake up the next few weeks of play.
Jimmy Snuggerud and Alexey Toropchenko are going to be missing some games with two completely different injuries. Snuggerud is going to the Injured Reserve list, and is scheduled to have surgery on his wrist. Toropchenko suffered burns to his legs at home, causing him to be labeled as week-to-week.
This is a huge blow to a team that has seemingly turned it around with a 3-1-3 record over their last seven games. The road trip did exactly what it was supposed to do for the Biues, brining this team closer together on the road, leading up to Thanksgiving. Now, things are going to be getting all shuffled around again to make up for those two key losses.
For the replacements, only forward Aleksanteri Kaskimaki was called up from Springfield. The 21-year-old left-handed shot has three goals and four assists for seven points in 16 games this season at the AHL level.
It is now time to see what the kid can do, as this is his moment to make an impression that could change his young career. The Ducks are a very good team, and the Blues are going to need a lot of help to win this one.
