The St. Louis Blues are currently 2-1 on their four-game western road trip, with their final stop being tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. After having a five-game point streak snapped against Edmonton, it will be interesting to see how they respond.
At 13-13-2, the Blues still sit just outside a playoff spot at 28 points. Vancouver is likely heading back to the playoffs again this season, with a record of 14-8-4 and sitting in third place in the Pacific Division.
Who to watch for
For the Blues, the entire roster that steps out on the ice tonight will be who to watch for. After being red hot over two weeks after the hiring of head coach Jim Montgomery, all eyes are on them to get another streak going. The loss against Edmonton was hard, as they fell behind very fast and weren’t able to play a competitive game.
To single out a single player, Dylan Holloway, one of the biggest surprises this season will be in the spotlight tonight. He has a six-game point streak, in which he has scored five goals and added four assists. He has been on another level as of late and the Blues are benefiting from it. He continues to prove that he is worth every investment from that offer-sheet in the offseason.
Like with the rest of the games on this road trip, they will have their hands full with Vancouver. For the Canucks, feasting your eyes on the incredible skating ability of defenseman Quinn Hughes will be what to watch for. The reigning Norris Trophy winner is already making a solid bid for a repeat, with five goals and 25 assists this season. He only trails Colorado’s star defenseman, Cale Makar, in points on the year, 35 to 32.
Can the Blues get back up from being knocked down, and have a successful ending to their road trip?
