The St. Louis Blues have had three players reach the 50-goal plateau in their 59-year history. Wayne Babych, Brett Hull, and Brendan Shanahan.
The feat has been done eight times, with the last coming from Shanahan and Hull during the 1993-94 season. It has been over 30+ years since anyone has hit those kinds of numbers.
Looking back, the next closest to reaching the mark was Brad Boyes with 43 in 2007-08 and Vladimir Tarasenko scoring 40 in 2015-16. Scott Young also had 40 goals in 2000-01 for the Blues. Not a lot of names over 30+ years of hockey.
Blues are near the bottom of teams last to have a 50+ goal scorer
When browsing around the rest of the NHL, the Blues are among some of the last teams to have a 50+ goal scorer. Only the Buffalo Sabres, Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Islanders are either before the end of the 1994 season or in that year. Of course, there are eight other teams that have yet to have a player hit that milestone at all.

Looking at the current roster, that milestone has a chance to be broken by a couple of players. Some established veterans and others are up-and-comers who have yet to reach their full potential. Jimmy Snuggerud jumps off the page as the next one to do it, but there are a few others still in the minors who could do it as well once they get acclimated to the highest level of professional hockey. Namely, Justin Carbonneau and Maddox Dagenais.
Robert Thomas is an interesting case to make as the next one to hit 50+, despite his pass-first kind of style. There is a chance that he might be able to shoot more next season with Snuggerud and Dylan Holloway on his wings, but that remains to be seen.
The Blues do not need to have a 50+ goal scorer to be successful, as evidenced by their 2018-19 Stanley Cup run. Hull was able to score 86 goals in 1990-91, and could not bring home this franchise's first Stanley Cup, but Tarasenko's team-high 33 goals did. A player scoring over 50 goals in a regular season gets you into the dance, but it does not guarantee it will be a good time.
It will be very interesting to see when the Blues will update this list, and also if any of those teams without a top-tier goal scorer have their first in 2026-27.
