The St. Louis Blues were able to take care of business against the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night, with a definitive 5-1 victory. Thanks to the return of a healthy Dylan Holloway, who recorded his second hat-trick as a member of the Blue Note.
There was another key player in that game who also made his return to St. Louis. Well, to the city that he was born and raised in, but never played for before. Jack Finley was recently brought in from the Tampa Bay Lightning, in a waiver claim, and made his Blues debut against the Kraken.
You might remember his father, Jeff Finley, who was a defenseman for the Blues from 1998 through 2004. In that time, 23-year-old Finley was born, and now life has come full circle as he is now rocking his dad's No. 37 on the Enterprise Center ice.
In his first game, you can see that he is going to make an everlasting impact here, as he fits the description of what it means to be on this team. He is big, strong, and aggressive. For a six-foot- six-inch forward, Finley's feet are quick and agile, clocking in at over 20.13 miles-per-hour at one point against the Kraken.
Finley picked up his first point as a Blue with an assist on the empty-netter by Holloway to seal the game. At the moment, he is under contract from his signing with the Lightning prior to this season, through the end of the 2027-28 season, with an AAV of just $775,000. That could be a steal for the Blues, as they might be entering a retooling era after the Trade Deadline and into this upcoming offseason.
