The St. Louis Blues are set to get their 2025-26 season started with a Central Division battle against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. Around the league last night, there was a former Blues rising star that is breaking new ground with his new franchise.
Zack Bolduc, who was dealt to Montreal for defenseman Logan Mailloux, scored the second goal of the Canadiens season. Before Mailloux makes his first appearance as a Blue, the pressure is on.

The one that got away?
Bolduc was moved to try and get some blueline help, but it might have been too steep a price. He was an integral part of the success gained last season, and there were high hopes for him to be a solid left-winger in the top-six. Thankfully, it seems like Justin Carbonneau and Dylan Holloway are projected to be in those two spots in the future, but Bolduc surely had the potential.
Now, the Blues have to hope that Mailloux can live up to the hype. His preseason was solid, and now he has gotten word to try to look for long-term living as this franchise's front office is fully invested in holding onto the 22-year-old. Alongside Tyler Tucker, that third line is going to be exciting to watch.
Logan Mailloux on being told to get a place to live in St. Louis: "It was good. It's the first time I've made a team out of camp. I think it was pretty cool to hear that for sure. Now it's time to get to work. This is just the start of it. Put the work boots on." #stlblues

Good for Bolduc
Bolduc is going to fit in nicely with Montreal. He was supposed to be a big part of the future of the Blues, and now he is going to be a big part of the future of the Canadiens.
The Blues have their own young stars in the wings waiting, so it is not a complete loss. But if Mailloux doesn't live up to the hype and produce to a similar level on the defensive side of the ice, it could be a disaster.
