The St. Louis Blues are not going to be making many waves in 2026-27. At least, that is how it looks right now, with an emphasis on the future bringing success to the table.
The Athletic ran its annual survey, and there is a lot of gold in that piece. One thing that stood out for the Blues was that there is a consensus, from nearly 20,000 die-hard hockey fans around the world, that this team should not be counted out of a Stanley Cup in the next 10 seasons.
Let's talk about it.
En route to second Stanley Cup?
The Blues have only secured one Stanley Cup in 59 years of business. The 2018-19 campaign was magical and unexpected, but surely one of the most memorable moments in St. Louis history.
By 2036, 20,000 people agreed that the Blues were a part of the under-2% club that should have a legitimate stake in a Stanley Cup. And those fans know puck, that's for sure.
This franchise is blossoming at every level of the ice, and it is the prospects that are leading the way. When dissecting every other roster across the NHL, there are maybe one or two teams that eclipse the Blues in terms of under-25 core players. That would be San Jose and potentially Chicago.
By the end of this decade, the Blues will be soaring high in the Central Division, and there will be no stopping this team. The foundation has been laid by both the old generation with ex-General Manager Doug Armstrong and the new GM Alexander Steen. The Blues have ample time and, more importantly, opportunity to fix things now to reap the rewards later.
Jimmy Snuggerud, Dalibor Dvorsky, Philip Broberg, and Joel Hofer will be four of many players who will bring in the next generation of Blues hockey. Justin Carbonneau, Adam Jiricek, and Love Harenstam are all up next.
This team is starting to get some recognition as being a potential contender in the future. That confidence will spread like wildfire on this roster, and who knows, the 2026-27 season could be the one.
