The St. Louis Blues couldn't close out another third-period lead, and another 2-1 lead at that, losing to the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime, 3-2. Joel Hofer got the nod in net, making 25 stops on 28 shots.
After the game, his postgame comments should be a bit familiar to all Blues fans. Things are not going the Blues way, and it is starting to dwell on them.
"It's frustrating, you know, I hate losing," Hofer expressed following the loss. "I don't know, we work so hard and we are doing a lot of things right, but we can't seem to get wins."
This team has grabbed a couple of points thus far on this five-game road trip, but it has not been enough. You play to win the game, and the Blues cannot get that part down.
Strong 40 minutes, then a soft 24 minutes after that
The Blues were firing on all cylinders in this one through the first two periods. Justin Faulk was on a hat-trick watch after scoring two goals in the first period. Then the line of Brayden Schenn, Pavel Buchnevich, and Dalibor Dvorsky was dynamite. Hofer was stopping everything being thrown at him.
Then the third period came, and the only good thing to come out of it was this majestic stop from Hofer on Flyers star Trevor Zegras. Highway robbery at its finest from No. 30.

But that was all she wrote. And Hofer explained it well after the game, this team is trending in the right direction, but it still stings to lose like this.
"I think once we see the puck go in the net and get a couple of wins, I think everyone's mojo is going to get going and confidence will go up," Hofer said. "But, yeah, it's frustrating right now."
