The World Championships are underway, and the St. Louis Blues have five players playing. Team Canada, which needed some extra bodies with the abundance of their Olympic roster still in the NHL Playoffs, had to resort to Robert Thomas and Dylan Holloway to help them out in this big tournament.

Holloway is suiting up in the Canadian colors for the first time in his career, and he made a statement in their opening game against Sweden. What a debut to have, as he lit the lamp with this snipe.

The recently re-signed Blues forward is still hot from his final sprint of the 2025-26 season. The bigger the competition, the bigger he seems to play.

This initial goal sparks two different conversations.

One, for Team Canada, the 2030 Olympics might need No. 81 on their wing. After losing to the United States in the Gold Medal game back in February, they are going to have to really throw everything they can out for the next Olympic Games to re-secure world hockey dominance. If Holloway can have a great tournament at the World Championships, it could secure his placement four years from now.

Second, for the Blues, this is a great sign. As mentioned above, Holloway just got a massive deal and will be getting $7.75 million AAV over the next five years. This first season is at $10 million against the Salary Cap, meaning that he is going to have to put up some serious numbers in 2026-27. This international snipe is a great start.
