he St. Louis Blues got one of the many things that they have to do this summer. Before things dragged on and the focus shifted to the NHL Draft, they locked up one of their key players to a big extension.

Dylan Holloway expressed his desire to remain in St. Louis for the long term, and General Manager Doug Armstrong granted his wish. He will be a Blue for the next five years at $7.75 Million AAV.

This is a great step in the right direction, as the top line that almost took this team to the Playoffs. Holloway has had some injury issues over the past two seasons, but his value when he is on the ice is certainly worth it.

In 2025-26, Holloway appeared in 59 games, scoring 22 goals and adding 29 assists for 51 points. He was a key member of the first line with Robert Thomas and Jimmy Snuggerud, and will now be a key part of next year's team as well.

This is the important part, a modified 20-team No-Trade Clause doesn't kick in until the fourth year of this deal, which then changes to a 15-team No-Trade Clause in the fifth-year. A new direction for contracts after this season's trade deadline debacle with the No-Trade Clauses.

This was a no-brainer by Armstrong to ensure that the team he built is sustainable for the next few seasons. Holloway will be part of this new core group and could be a leading member.

There are still a lot more questions to answer this summer. But one of the more important ones was taken care of right away. Everything else now takes priority.
