The St. Louis Blues are in a weird spot between fighting for a playoff spot with their experience right now, or trying to set up a hopeful future with their youth. One of those youth pieces might be a nice addition to the best forward on this team, Robert Thomas. Or, he could be the next version of No. 18.
Who is it, and it is possible? Let's talk about it.
Who is it?
The Blues could have the beginning of their next rendition of Robert Thomas, and the best part is that they are on the team together right now. Dalibor Dvorsky is that player, and he could be a very beneficial member of this franchise's future. Even though there has only been a small sample size right now, there have been some positive remarks.
Namely, his efficiency at the faceoff dot and on the power play. Dvorsky has a win percentage of 47.8% on the draw, and has lit the lamp all three times on the man-advantage.
Of course, to compare him to someone as great as Thomas is a big stretch at the moment. But, with the rest of this season and the forseeable future being in Dvorsky's hands as a full-time NHL player, who is to say he won't eventually get there.
Thomas needed time as well
When Robert Thomas started his career back in 2018-19, it took three seasons before he could get his grip on the NHL game. In 189 games during his first three seasons, he had 22 goals and 65 assists for 87 points. Obviously, you can see what kind of point production he puts up nowadays.
Dvorsky is still in his first real stint with the Blues, and already making a significant impact. Don't put No. 54 down as a failure yet, and instead, imagine the possibility of him being the next first-line centerman to lead the Blues. Anything is possible.
