It is now time for the St. Louis Blues to hit the panic button

The St. Louis Blues were once again unable to get themselves back into the win column, with a 4-2 loss to Utah on the road. This is the first of a back-to-back with a trip to Sin City tomorrow night.

This was a fun game to watch, filled with intensity and fury. Utah is proving that they are becoming a pain in the side of the Blues and becoming a bitter rival. But, looking at our guys and our team, you cannot help but notice that this was a win that got away from them.

There was some fight, but ultimately, this team does not have what it takes to hang around with a team like Utah. It is time to officially smash the panic button for the first time this season, and if this losing streak continues after tomorrow night's late affair with Vegas, the 2025-26 season might be packed up and place on the shelf as a failure.

Enough said with performance against Utah

The Blues played a solid game against Utah; there is no denying that. But, this game followed the same script as almost every other loss of the season, in which the middle period decided the whole game. Once again, the Blues could not keep themselves in contention for very long by going down 3-1 and then 3-2 at one point. Utah and St. Louis were tied in the second period battle with two goals apiece, but it was a vastly better period for the Mammoth.

Special teams were once again at the forefront for what went wrong for the Blues, as another horrific performance with the man-advantage puts it to 0-17, dating back to December 27 against Nashville. They cannot get it going, and it is seriously hurting this team.

Time to give up, or time to change?

There is a stark difference between giving up and making changes. In terms of this big red button that reads panic in white lettering, giving up is close but not the right move. It is time for General Manager Doug Armstrong to pull the trigger on these rumors and start moving around the core players.

Starting with Captain Brayden Schenn, there are a few locations that could use his talents. Not to mention the leading goal-scorer for the Blues, Justin Faulk. Waiting for the Olympic break and then onto the Trade Deadline might be too late for this season, and the window to move these players might be over.

No matter what, if you are a fan of this team, you should be shaking in your boots. This is getting ugly, and will continue to get uglier.
