June 12, 2019. Boston, Massachusetts. TD Garden.

Game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals.

The St. Louis Blues faced off against a stellar Boston Bruins squad. With a rookie goaltender in Jordan Binnington, a legend was born and a hockey game defined 52 years of waiting.

It has been seven years since that incredible Game 7 victory, and the current Blues look very different. No more Ryan O'Reilly, Vladimir Tarasenko, or Alex Pietrangelo. Craig Berube was just bounced from his head coaching gig in Toronto, and now, Alexander Steen, who was a key player that season, is in line to become the General Manager of the Blues next month.

The only remaining members of that roster that are still on the current roster are Binnington, Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko, Jordan Kyrou, and Oskar Sundqvist. Nearly all of those names, aside from Thomas, who has already been grounded in St. Louis for next season, might be moved this offseason.

These last seven years have gone by fast, but this Stanley Cup victory will live on forever. Winning against one of the best teams of the 2010s in the Bruins was no easy feat, and to do it on the road in game seven is truly a magical event.

Blues fans worldwide took to social media today to remember this iconic day, including the Blues official X account.

Seven years from now, the Blues should be back in competitive form, and not in this retooling phase. At least, that is the hope. There are a number of things that still have to happen for this franchise to get back into the contender category, and it could start with the upcoming NHL Draft and free agency period in a couple of weeks.
