Three familiar names in St. Louis hockey are about to get some hardware of a different kind. Former St. Louis Blues players Pat Maroon and Mike Zuke, along with minority owner Donn Lux are heading into the St. Louis Amateur Hockey Hall of Fame, with the induction ceremony set for Saturday, Aug. 15, at the St. Charles Convention Center.
Fans of the Blues who have followed the club at all over the last decade know that Maroon doesn't need much of an introduction. The St. Louis native came home in 2018, and what followed still feels like a movie with Maroon becoming a key piece of the Blues' first-ever Stanley Cup winning season, and his double overtime winner in Game 7 against the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference semifinals remains one of the most iconic goals in franchise history. Maroon wasn't done winning after that, however. He picked up back-to-back Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021, cementing himself as one of the more decorated players to ever come out of the city.
Zuke's path to the Hall looks a bit different, but it is no less deserving. The Blues drafted him back in 1974, and he spent parts of five season in St. Louis from 1978 to 1983, putting up 184 points in 296 games as a dependable playmaker. After his playing days, Zuke stuck around pouring years into coaching working with 16U AAA teams an the St. Louis Jr. Blues, helping shape plenty of local kids along the way.
Lux, who is being honored as a builder for everything he has done off the ice. He joined Tom Stillman's ownership group back in 2012, playing a big role in keeping the Blues locally owned during a stretch when that wasn't guaranteed. He's also been heavily involved with the Blues for Kids board and has continued backing youth hockey programs around the region.
Together, this trio covers a lot of ground and different areas of the game, ultimately doing their part to help grow hockey in St. Louis. With a lengendary playoff moment, a career spent developing the next wave of St. Louis hockey talent, and the steady leadership that has kept the Blues rooted in the city they play for.
