The St. Louis Blues put up a solid effort, at least on paper, against the Boston Bruins. The end result, however, painted a bigger picture. A 5-2 routing that didn’t feature the Blues in this game at all.
Head coach Jim Montgomery spoke after the game and hit the nail on the head in terms of that outing. He perfectly summed it all up in one sentence and it really makes you wonder what direction this team goes in now.
Monty on what areas the Blues could've been better tonight: "Every one." #stlblues

The Blues fall to 9-12-7, for 25 points on the year. The Central Division is Colorado’s to lose at this point, and both Dallas and Minnesota are 16 and 10 points ahead, respectively. Things are starting to get out of control for this group.
The offense is failing, and the injuries to Jimmy Snuggerud and Alexey Toropchenko are really hurting this group. The defense was showing signs of getting better, but then went back to their oil ways against Boston. Finally, a conversation on Jordan Binnington has to be made on his future with this team. Joel Hofer is not the answer, but the goaltending needs to be fixed somehow. A 1-for-1 trade for a goaltender might be an option at this point.
The Blues cannot keep playing like this and expect a different result. Line shuffling is not going to cut it at 28 games in. A more severe and radical change needs to happen.
