As the St. Louis Blues are paving their way towards a franchise record 12 wins in a row, the rest of the league is watching the “Gr8 Chase”.  Washington Capitals legend in the making Alex Ovechkin is now tied with Wayne Gretzky at 894 career goals.

One of the most unbeatable sports records is about to be broken. It begs to ask how many goals Ovechkin has scored on the Blues in his career?

Let’s find out.

Ovi against the Blues

Over the past 20 seasons, Ovechkin has faced off against the Blues on 28 occasions. In those games, he has potted 21 goals. Eight goals came on the power play, and four were game-winning. Two goals came on November 9, when the Capitals throttled the Blues, 8-1.

That is not all too shabby on the Blues end, as he has completely obliterated other teams on the way to tying this monumental record. For instance, Ovechkin has 57 goals against the Winnipeg Jets in 75 games.

The Capitals and Blues have never met in the playoffs, but it is safe to say that he would have buried many goals.

This chase has been entertaining, and these things usually get too much or overbearing to watch. But not this. Every night, hockey fans are glued to their TV’s and phones patiently waiting to see Ovechkin rip home his patented slapper. With one goal separating him from every other hockey player to play the game, he will stand atop the mountain as the greatest goal-scorer in NHL history.

If and when this record is broken, the Blues are faw away from being the team to give up the record-breaking goal. The Capitals have a road game against the New York Islanders on Sunday and then back home against Carolina on Thursday.
