On the second day of the 2025 NHL Draft, the St. Louis Blues locked up their backup goaltender for two more years at $3.4 million AAV. Joel Hofer, who certainly earned that deal, will be Jordan Binnington's backup through the 2026-27 season.

This should not be too much of a surprise, as he was dynamite last season. With a 16-8-3 record, Hofer was exceptional on Binnington's off-days. There was some speculation that Colton Ellis of the Springfield Thunderbirds might get the nod if Hofer did not return, but that seems to be delayed for now.

The two-year deal is worth $3.4 million AAV, which is a steal. He proved himself when it mattered most, and the best-kept secret in the Western Conference, which is the goaltending duo in St. Louis, stays together for two more years.

What are your thoughts on the deal? Did the Blues overpay or get it just right with Hofer?
