One burning question all St. Louis Blues fans should be asking after two games

Fans of the St. Louis Blues have got to be satisfied with the way their team has fared in its first two games, but not without asking one major question.

The St. Louis Blues have been one entertaining group to watch as they started the 2024-25 season better than we could have imagined. Many of us felt that this would be a throwaway year with continued restructuring and a new coach, but so far, that hasn’t been the case.

Sure, it’s only been two games, and this could all be a mirage at the moment. But regardless, all Blues fans should be asking this question: Will the Blues be that team this season?

If you don’t understand where I’m coming from, let me rephrase it. Will the Blues be that team, the one we’ll see keep a lot of games close and give themselves a chance to win in the end? Or maybe a chance to win through 40 minutes and ride it out thanks to some stellar goaltending, as was the case in Game 1?

Or what about last night’s win against the San Jose Sharks that spoiled Macklin Celebrini’s debut? This team was finished before they got it together and stole the win.

The St. Louis Blues might actually be a fun team to watch in 2024-25

By this quip, I mean that the Blues could be a treat for fans all over the NHL to watch this year, which would give them a bit of a bandwagon if they keep this up. I mean, some teams out there just look outright dreadful right now, like the Buffalo Sabres, who’ve scored three goals in three games thus far.

I’m sure those fans in Western New York wouldn’t mind finding a temporary team to back if the Blues consistently give us thrillers, whether they win or lose, as opposed to watching a team that forgot the object to win hockey games is to score goals. And trust me, should the Blues, even if they turn out to be very average this year, become a fun team to watch, the NHL universe will tune in.

Tonight’s matchup will be the first big test for St. Louis, as they aren’t playing a lowly team this time around. That was the case earlier this week when they opened the season against the Seattle Kraken before playing those lowly Sharks.

The Vegas Golden Knights are no joke, and they’re a stacked team looking to prove to everyone that they’re still good enough to contend for a Stanley Cup. But the Blues, a team I would have laughed at two weeks ago in such a matchup, could give Vegas a scare tonight. If it’s another close, fun outing, there may be more than just Blues and Knights fans taking a closer look at this one.
