Pat Maroon announced his retirement from the NHL on March 22 prior to his final game in St. Louis in a pregame interview with Darren Pang. The former Blues forward won the Stanley Cup for his hometown team back in 2019, his only season with the club.
Despite playing just one season with the Blues, Maroon will always be a fan favorite. The St. Louis native was in the spotlight again over the weekend as the Cardinals invited him to throw out the first pitch on Friday night.

The Cardinals broadcast also caught up with Maroon during the game to talk about his retirement, winning the Stanley Cup, the Panthers repeating as champions, and more.
"Right now just diving deep in some things that maybe I want to do, venture off into media world, maybe do some side things. I'm looking forward to retirement and spending time with my family," Maroon said. "
Maroon was a guest on the NHL on TNT panel during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, so he may already have an in if he elects to go that way.
"I think, for me, personally, just being in some TV stuff. We'll see what happens after that. I honestly don't know," he said. "Just trying to figure it out right now. IT's still the offseason so it hasn't really hit me, retirement, but I think once everyone starts going back it will."
Maroon played 14 years in the NHL for eight different teams. He won three consecutive Stanley Cups in 2019, 2020, and 2021, but admitted that the first one with the Blues was his favorite.
