Is Dalibor Dvorsky ready for the NHL?

Arguments can quickly go both ways. Dalibor Dvorsky, who turned 19 a couple of weeks ago, could certainly benefit from further development.

However, his single season in OHL play with the Sudbury Wolves also supports his readiness to enter NHL play.

OHL Sudbury Wolves Stats:

2023-24: 52 games, 45 goals, 43 assists, 88 points.

Before the OHL, Dvorsky played in the Swedish Hockey League and in the junior leagues within Sweden. He had notable success in 2022-23, splitting his time in both leagues.

Skeptics will argue that he’s not NHL-ready and ask why the Blues would rush his developmental process.

While there may be some legitimate arguments for allowing him to further his skills in the OHL and even the AHL; his scoring ability can’t be overlooked.

St. Louis homegrown talent Matthew Tkachuk played one solo year in the OHL in 2015-16 before entering NHL play.

Matthew Tkachuk in the OHL:

2015-16: 57 games, 30 goals, 77 assists, 107 points.

Tkachuk maintained an impressive year in the OHL with 77 assists.

Dvorsky, a scoring threat, had 15 more goals than Tkachuk in five fewer games.

It’s already been reported that St. Louis Blues GM Doug Armstrong has been clear: Out of all the prospects, Dvorsky has the best shot of making the team come training camp. These words are not only encouraging but could also serve as a hint for future decisions.

Like any other prospect, Dvorsky is eager to play now. His determination is evident, and he’s ready to prove himself on the ice.

As we look forward to the upcoming season, it’s important to note that Dvorsky just concluded a three-day development camp, during which most analysts raved about his performance.

This was a great opportunity for Dvorsky to showcase his talent and impress the front office and staff with his NHL readiness and other attributes such as maturity, chemistry, and leadership.

As we await the 2024-25 season, one thing is certain-Dvorsky’s journey is one to watch. Whether he steps onto the ice or not, his potential as a top goal scorer is undeniable, and his impact on the Blues, if he does play, could be significant.
