Can Zack Bolduc earn a spot on the St. Louis Blues roster in the 2024-25 season?
“Unlike Zach Dean, Zachary Bolduc showed a little more productivity in the AHL and NHL, so he brings more upside than the former in the offensive zone; at least, that’s the case for now. Either way, Bolduc scored five times and logged nine points in the 25 contests he played in Gateway City,” wrote Todd Matthews.
The stats are somewhat impressive for just 25 games.
St. Louis Blues: Is Zack Bolduc good enough to earn a roster spot?
Potentially yes.
His numbers in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League were excellent, albeit the competition level was weak compared to the AHL.
Bolduc could be the perfect example of a player who capitalized on his limited opportunity in the NHL, only playing in 25 games. He was arguably playing for future opportunities to impress GM Doug Armstrong, coach Drew Bannister, and his proven Blues veteran teammates.
Although Bolduc may not be on the opening-day roster, fans can anticipate seeing more of him, like Jake Neighbours in his first two seasons.
Bolduc is average-sized, 6’0” and 187 lbs. At 21, he’s young and building upon his skills.
His draft report card praised his speed, craftiness, and skill in evading defenders, which will excite Blues fans if he continues to polish these attributes.
Bolduc’s time with the Blues saw him accumulate 12 hits, highlighting his aggressive playing style, which experts lauded even before he was drafted.
Bolduc has the opportunity to score and could very well benefit from another long year in the AHL. In any case, he's a clever and fast player who enjoys making hits and has the potential for increased playing time in the future.
He’s a prospect that Blues fans should follow carefully.
