The St. Louis Blues hosted the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night, and it was an electrifying game. Against a Mitch Marner-less opponent, the Blues lit up the score-sheet with six goals in a 6-2 victory.

During this game, Robert Thomas manned the top line that has seemingly turned a corner for good. Each of Thomas, Jimmy Snuggerud, and Dylan Holloway have started to get hot in their own ways as of late. No. 18 hit a major milestone in this game, and looking at how many games are left in the 2026-27 season, he could move up another two spots.

Let's talk about it.

333rd assist of career, ties Sutter for fourth-most all-time

In his 540th NHL game, Thomas grabbed the 333rd assist of his career as a Blue. That ties the great Brian Sutter for fourth-most in Blues history, and this most recent notch raises his No. 18 a little bit higher toward the rafters of the Enterprise Center.

The captain now has Alex Pietrangelo, Brett Hull, and Bernie Federnko in front of him for the most assists all-time. He will get there eventually and could move into second before this season ends.

It is worth noting it took Sutter 239 more games to reach that mark, which breathes some more life into Thomas being the eventual top-assister and potential top point-getter in Blues history, one day.

Pietrangelo is eight assists ahead of him now, and Hull sits 76 ahead of Thomas, currently. 76 assists with 74 games to go is a very tall order, but with how well the top-line is playing now, the likelihood of him passing Hull this season is not impossible. Improbable, but not impossible.

Turning the corner

We all knew that in order for the Blues' first line to get going, it was going to take Thomas getting it together. There was no way that Snuggerud or Holloway were going to be able to contribute at a high level without their star centerman.

Against a very good Vegas Golden Knight top-line of Jack Eichel and company, they contributed a total of three goals and three assists for six points. That is a fantastic showing against a very good opponent, even if Marner was not in the lineup.

Going forward, the Blues are going to need this trio, with a focus on Thomas, especially, to be rock solid. If he can continue to dish the puck with the elite accuracy that Blues fans love him for, those 76 assists are certainly possible.
