St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas has a unique opportunity to make team history. It’s not often that one player has a chance to set various club records.
But in Thomas’ case, it could happen. But that depends on him staying long enough with the club.
As good as Thomas has been in St. Louis, he remains mired in NHL trade rumors. That’s par for the course nowadays. It’s rare that a player doesn’t make the rounds in chatter. Pretty much everyone out there has been part of the grind of the rumor mill at one point or another.
Assuming Thomas stays, he could climb up the ranks to become the Blues’ all-time leading scorer.
As it stands, Thomas is 11th in club scoring. He’s tied with David Backes with 460 points. However, Thomas has achieved that mark in 530 games, whilst it took Backes 727.
The next two names on the list, ones Thomas could easily pass in the first week of next season, are Brayden Schenn and David Perron. Both players have 465 points.
In fact, a good season from Thomas could see him jump all the way to sixth on the team list. That spot currently belongs to Blues’ current GM Alex Steen. Steen notched 496 points with the club during his 12-year tenure with the Blues.
If Thomas went bonkers this upcoming season, a 100-point campaign would push him past Vladimir Tarasenko for fifth on the Blues’ all-time list.
It’s truly impressive what Thomas could do with a solid season.

The Blues all-time leading scorer is Bernie Federko with 352 goals and 1,073 points. That’s a lofty total for Thomas to reach.
But if he stays put, he could certainly do it.
Thomas is under contract for five more seasons. Barring a major injury or significant decline, reaching, say, 1,100 career points wouldn’t be out of the question.
Getting there won’t be easy. But at 27, Thomas is hitting some of the best years of his career. However, there might be some uncertainty regarding Thomas’ ability to get there.
In his eight seasons with the Blues, Thomas has played just one full 82-game season. That was 2023-24. In 2024-25, he hit the ice for 70 games, with that number shrinking last season to just 64.
While it might be wishful thinking to expect Thomas to play all 84 games this season, hitting the ice for around 70 to 75 would be fantastic. And it would be the sort of pace he would need to maintain in order to get reasonably close to the Blues’ record by the time he hits his mid-30s.
Topping Federko is still a long way away. But it could make Thomas the Blues’ greatest player of all time.
