Ryan Reaves is back in the Western Conference after trade from Toronto

The polarizing enforcer started his career in St. Louis and is now a member of one of their rivals.

Ryan Reaves endeared himself to the Blues faithful with a fun seven seasons in St. Louis to start his career.

He then moved on with shorter stints with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild, and the last two seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. But the St. Louis Blues are still the team that he's spent the longest time with, and it certainly looks like it'll end that way.

The Blues only saw Reaves and the Maple Leafs twice a season for the last two years, but they should have a chance to see him a bit more after a trade on Thursday night.

The Maple Leafs traded Ryan Reaves to the San Jose Sharks for defenseman Henry Thrun. The trade was one for one.

Funnily enough, Reaves broke the news of his own trade while at a Golden Knights meet-and-greet with fans.

Reaves has been in the Eastern Conference for most of the past four seasons. He was traded from the Rangers to Minnesota, playing 61 games with the Wild at the end of the 2022-23 season. He'll now be back in the Conference where he started and has played the majority of his career.

It remains to be seen just how much playing time Reaves will get on a young San Jose team. He's pencilled in on the fourth line for now, but things could change before the Sharks' trip to St. Louis.
