The St. Louis Blues are on a two-game win streak, and one of the reasons why is because of the stellar goal scoring from their new sniper. Jimmy Snuggerud has been fantastic this season, and it is time to slap a new label on him.
Potential 50-goal scorer.
That mark has not been reached since Brandan Shanahan and Brett Hull did it back in 1993-94. Vladimir Tarasenko came close, and many Blues fans believed that Jordan Kyrou would have been the next one to do it. Unfortunately, both failed to do so.
Now, all eyes are on No. 21 to do it.
On pace?
With eight goals in 14 games, Snuggerud is on pace for 48 goals. Obviously, that is not 50 goals, but he can turn on the Jets at any point this season and start to perform ahead of schedule. As the season continues to roll along, the Blues are going to be in more of these high-octane, high-offense games where almost every shot is a potential goal. That is where Snuggerud will pick up some multi-goal games.
Speaking of that, Snuggerud leads the Blues in goals this season, and he has done so without scoring more than one in a single game. That is a telling tale of consistency and bringing it every night, not just scoring in bunches and then cooling off. He is a threat on any given night.
The blooming chemistry between Robert Thomas and Snuggerud is starting to look like it did last season. Dylan Holloway has been the best assister for No. 21, with five, and then defenseman Philip Broberg with four.
Is it possible?
It is 100% possible for Snuggerud to etch his name in the Blues' short list of 50-goal scorers when the 2026-27 season is over. He could potentially do it before the 82nd game, keeping it in line with previous records.
Snuggerud has started finding his stride at 5v5 and on the power play as well. He only has two goals with the man-advantage this season, but the game plan of moving him to the circle for a one-timer has been established. Utilizing that going forward will increase his chances of lighting the lamp this season.
Is it a guarantee for Snuggerud to keep this pace? No. But, from what has been seen through 14 games so far, you cannot deny that this kid is something special. He is going to go down as one of the great goal-scorers that this franchise has ever had.
