Pro: Relief

Most players look excited and happy when they score a goal. However, even though there were only two examples, you could tell there was just a lot of relief and some weight lifted when the Blues scored their goals.

Maybe it was the losing streak or maybe it was having been owned by Utah/Arizona, but there was just a slightly different reaction to the Blues goals on this night.

Texier's goal may have been more personal. He just turned away from goal, waited a moment, and then clinched his fists near his shoulders like "Yes! Finally!" It was almost more vindication as opposed to a mere celebration.

The second goal was even more relief, as though the skies had suddenly cleared during a horrendous storm. Kyrou scores and is pumped about it, but Pavel Buchnevich may have shown more emotion on this goal than any of the ones he's personally scored this season. I think the pressure had built up on Thomas and Buchnevich so much that finally getting some points made them overjoyed

Con: Almost reverting back

It's hard, if not impossible sometimes, to play solely on emotion for 60 minutes. So, we knew it would be unlikely for the Blues to get a carbon copy of the first period for the following 40 minutes.

Still, you'd like them to have the same focus and maybe just a little less for results. Instead, you go from 15 shots to seven in each of the next two periods.

With St. Louis only getting the one goal in the first, you felt like they had missed their chance. It wasn't as though the Blues played poorly in the second or third, but the lack of shots on target felt like a step back and too much of an opportunity for the game to slip away.
