The St. Louis Blues pulled off one of the hardest-fought victories of the 2025-26 season, and it literally came to a fight to get it done. During the final minutes of play, the chippiness and bravado started to shine through for both the Blues and Ottawa Senators, causing mayhem after every single whistle.

The final brawl in particular will do much more than help win the game, as this team might have gotten its final piece of the puzzle in terms of pulling this team together. Let's talk about it.

All in this together

That last-minute brawl featured the Blues' best and brightest having to push and shove. Robert Thomas got into it with Senators Dylan Cozens, Philip Broberg was piled on by both Cozens and Tim Stützle forcing Joel Hofer to step in and make it 1-on-1.

The bench was ecstatic. Mathieu Joseph had a smile on his face and was chirping at Cozens as he went back to his respective bench. Head coach Jim Montgomery stepped up high on the bench to get a look at the melee, with a grin on his face as well. It was a good bonding moment with this group, as there is still an underlying issue amongst this team.

The injuries continue to pile up, and that performance on the ice is not going to win every hockey game. Had Hofer not been an absolute brick wall in net, the Senators could have easily put up a five-spot on the Blues, and with only three shots in the first 30 minutes of the game, the Blues wouldn't have been able to respond.

That last second brawl is featured in a lot of close hockey games across the league. It is a tale of brotherhood for every franchise, but it also paints a picture that this team is ready to go to war. They have not given up yet, despite the bad start, continued disappointment and now an injury to their best goal-scorer, Jordan Kyrou.
