The St. Louis Blues had an incredible run throughout their 2024-25 campaign, and it ended in absolute heartbreak. There were a ton of storylines throughout the year, from coach firings and mid-season trades, to a rejuvenated squad coming out of the 4 Nations break.
But, one thing happened last season that really changed the record books. Setting a new franchise-record in consecutive wins was an incredible expierence, and it helped lead this franchise back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Let's talk about it and if it is possible for the Blues to set another franchise record in 2025-26?
12 game win streak
From March 15 through April 5, the Blues were unbeatable. They did not lose a single game in 12 tries, and the entire National Hockey League was put on notice. The win streak set a new franchise record, and helped catapult the team into the last spot in the Western Conference Playoffs.
Some notable wins came against Minnesota, Vancouver and then Colorado twice. Over the span of 12 games, the Blues scored 51 goals and allowed 22, and went 10-37 on the powerplay. They also only allowed three opposing powerplay goals on 26 tries.
Do it again?
Can the 2025-26 Blues make it to 13-straight? It is certainly possible, but improbable. There is no way that this team can rely on that kind of phenonemom to happen again at the end of the season like that.
The core is the same from a year ago, with the same top-six, and the same goaltending tandem. If anything, this team might have gotten a lot better than last season, with the additions of Pius Suter and Logan Mailloux.
But, the rest of the Central Division got better as well. With free agency, and the Draft, each team got a little bit stronger for next season, making the chance of the Blues going on a run like that, that much harder.
