These next few weeks are going to be a very busy time as St. Louis Blues General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Doug Armstrong gets set to draft his last prospects. There are going to be 12 names called and acquired by the Blues, and each are going to have a unique opportunity to make it or not.

The question that is on everyone's mind, is that if failing this draft completely sinks this franchise?

Let's talk about it.

Impact of this draft

The upcoming draft at the end of the month is going to have a lot riding on it. Looking at the class of prospects itself, this is going to be an incredible night of drafting. With the 11th, 15th and 29th pick, the Blues cannot really go wrong here, or can they?

Looking at what the Blues need, it is center depth and defensive help. Both of which have several highly-talented prospects available to settle those needs. It is really going to come down to which one has the best career, which is going to be really tough with how good of a draft class this is.

Failing is not the end of the world?

Should the Blues miraclously mess this draft up, it is a big hit but not going to sink the battleship. The youth movement is already laying down roots in St. Louis, and they are buying in on this retooling franchise. Jimmy Snuggerud, Dalibor Dvorsky, Logan Mailloux, Philip Broberg and Joel Hofer are the future.

The 11th and 15th picks are really the highlights here, as they are the lowest and going to bring in the best prospects. It is important to get at least one d-man and a center here, but a left-winger out of Windsor is not a bad idea here.

Failing this draft is going to be a lot harder than usual, as these players are coming in with a lot of skill.
