The St. Louis Blues are among the top of the NHL in at least one category this season. With 1013 hits as a team, they are in third place in the league for most hits as a team.

With that said, when you look at who exactly is laying the body, the results might surprise you. Even more, there is a chance that this team could do something that has never been done before in regard to racking up hits.

Let's talk about it.

No team with five players with 200+ hits

There are five players on the Blues roster who are on their way toward hitting the 200+ hit mark this season. Captain Brayden Schenn, Nathan Walker, Dylan Holloway, Jake Neighbours, and Mathieu Joseph are the five players in contention.

No NHL team, since the league started jotting down the hits stat in 2005-06, has had five players on the same team surpass the 200-hit plateau. A little after the halfway point of the 2025-26 season, Walker leads the Blues with 100 hits, followed by Schenn with 98, then Holloway and Neighbours with 91 and 89. Joseph, who has been a healthy scratch for a little bit here, is at 74 hits, but given the chance, he can definitely be in contention to gain 200+ hits.

All Forwards

The ironic point of this post is that each of those five players is in the forward unit. No defenseman, who are notoriously the ones to be at the top of these kinds of stats. Tyler Tucker leads the defenseman with 47 hits on the year, which is not nearly enough.

These five forwards are heavy hitters, and each has a very good chance of hitting this record-breaking team effort. As the Blues continue to stay in contention for the playoff race, these games will get more tight-knit and physical. History serves that kind of game style favors the Blues.

Longshot, but possible with bruising Blues

Obviously, math says that each of those hit numbers is not on pace for 200+ hits, but there have been instances of each of those players going well above their average. Stringing together a couple of nights with a bunch of hits will put them over the threshold.

Of course, this record, or being the first team in NHL history to have that many heavy hitters in the same season, is not the most luxurious record. But it is a testament to the kind of culture that the Blues represent. This is a rough and tough team, and they will pummel you given the chance. Perfect for a playoff run, if they can get out of their own way first.
