The St. Louis Blues have been on fire lately, resulting in an impressive nine-game win streak. Tonight, they will try to extend this winning streak to double digits, facing off against the Detroit Red Wings.
With a record of 40-28-7 for 87 points, the Blues have cemented their lead for the Western Conference second wild card spot. They narrowly approach the first wildcard spot, held by the Minnesota Wild at 88 points.
Detroit has a hefty battle in front of them, with not only the hottest team in the league but also the rest of their schedule packed with heavy hitters. According to tankathon.com, the Red Wings have the hardest schedule remaining, and they still sit three points out of the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference.
There are a number of stars to watch in this one, as both sides have quite a few players who can change the game on a dime.
For the Red Wings, their best player this season has been Lucas Raymond. He has been hot lately, scoring in back-to-back games. With 26 goals and 47 assists for 73 points, he is the team's leading scorer.
The Blues continue to be led by Robert Thomas and his searing success as of late. Since February 1, he has been head-to-head one of the best players in the NHL. During this nine-game win streak, he scored two goals and 14 assists in 16 points.
All eyes are going to be on another young prospect making his NHL debut. After Dalibor Dvorsky had his debut on March 23 against the Nashville Predators, it is time for Jimmy Snuggerud to get his rookie lap. He is projected to be on the right wing of Zac Bolduc and Oskar Sundqvist on the third line.
Jim Montgomery said Jimmy Snuggerud will make his NHL debut tonight. #stlblues

As a part of the best kept secret in the NHL, it will be Jordan Binnington in net for the Blues. This is the first of a three-game home-stand, and the puck will drop at 7:00 PM CT.
