After taking revenge against the Winnipeg Jets last night, 4-1, the St. Louis Blues continue their point streak to four games. This win came in large part to their fantastic second-period performance, which showcased an offensive explosion.
That has been the theme since Jim Montgomery was signed to be the new Head Coach. There has been no slowing down this offense, but, surely it can’t keep going this good… right?
At 12-12-2, for 26 points on the season, they sit in fifth place in the Central Divison. They are still trailing the Colorado Avalanche by two points and the Dallas Stars by six points, but are gaining ground.
Will fiery offense start to fizzle out?
Over the last four games, the Blues have outscored opponents 14-6. They found a way to beat some top-tier teams and did it handily.
But, can they ride this heat wave for the long term? Will this fiery offense start to fizzle out?
Naturally, it will. They have had trouble with scoring all season, before this last four-game stretch, and they will inevitably fall back into that situation again. Currently, they are ranked 26th in the NHL in goals scored with 67.
This past week and change has seen contributions from several different players, but these few stood above the rest. Forwards Jordan Kyrou, Jake Neighbours, and Dylan Halloway have been consistent names in the goal column recently. They have truly stepped up, and this team is not where they are right now without them.
Overall, the long-awaited arrival of the offense is a nice sight to see, as this team surely has the talent to compete with some of the league's best. This is without winger Pavel Buchnevich, who will only help this offense as he has been out for the past few games with a lower-body injury.
Do you think the Blues can keep this hot-streak going?
