On the eve of the 2026 NHL Draft, there has been a monumental refusal from one of the best players in the NHL. In an attempt to speed up their own retooling phase, the Seattle Kraken were going to send over their seventh-overall pick to the Dallas Stars in a sign-and-trade for Jason Robertson.

The deal was for eight-years, with an AAV of $15 million. Robertson turned it down.

For the St. Louis Blues, who may not have had any stake in that race before, there is now a little bit of hope. If Dallas is willing to let him go to a division rival, any number of the four first-round picks might be supplemental enough to match the Kraken's seventh pick.

Let's talk about it.

Robertson to the Blues?

There is always a chance for something crazy like this to happen. Many Blues fans probably thought that the deal to send Jordan Kyrou to Washington was never going to happen, but General Manager Doug Armstrong worked it out perfectly.

For Jason Robertson, it did not look like the term, or the money, was the issue. More so, it seems like the idea of the new organization might have been the difference-maker. That could be different with the highly loyal and devoted, along with historical, Blues.

According to Jeff Marek, the Blues are rumored to have put in a bid on Robertson, but it was turned down. Once again, it was Robertson choosing his path to his next NHL franchise.

Ahead of a big day in this franchise's history, Armstrong is going to continue to make rumblings like this. He is pushing hard for GM-to-be Alexander Steen to be set up with a good launching point.
