As the 2026 NHL Draft keeps moving along, the San Jose Sharks selected Ivar Stenberg with the second overall pick. The name sounds familiar because the St. Louis Blues have a Stenberg of their own in the prospect pool, in Otto.

Both of them are brothers, and many thought that it would be a trade-up by the Blues to get him. Unfortunately, it was not the case.

At the Draft, Otto spoke about his brother and said, "He is a really smart player, and he will fit in really well in San Jose."

Stenberg rivalry in the NHL

With two Stenberg's in the Western Conference, this is going to be a fun rivalry to watch. Both are in great positions to have long and storied careers, and both could be battling each other in the playoffs in just a few short years.

Otto Stenberg has a significant role with the Blues, and that will be shown in 2026-27. He saw a good amount of icetime in 2025-26, and that will increase as the youth movement rises. Stenberg appeared in 32 games, with three goals and seven assists for 10 points last season.

The Blues are still awaiting their turn following the obvious choice of McKenna by the Toronto Maple Leafs, and are just under 10 picks away from the No. 11 pick. There are a lot of great prospects to choose from, and best believe that General Manager Doug Armstrong is taking calls to move up.
