The Tkachuk brothers' reunion in St. Louis is very unlikely now, but not over

It was a big day for the Tkachuk family on Sunday, and now, Brady is joining Matthew down in Florida. The idea for the reunion of the Tkachuck brothers with the St. Louis Blues is dead, for now.

There may be a chance in a few years, but now it is highly unlikely, as the Panthers just pushed themselves back into the favorite column to win the Stanley Cup.

Let’s talk about the deal and why the dream is not over yet.

Blockbuster for Brady

The Panthers sent over their two first round picks this season, a conditional first round pick in 2029 and their second round pick in 2027. That is a haul and a half to rip the Ottawa Senators captain away.

This deal sets up both teams for very different offseasons. The Panthers are back in the championship window, and the Senators just pushed themselves back into a full rebuild.

Blues were in on Brady, leading to the eventuality

For the Blues, you can probably guess that all three picks were likely on the table for Tkachuk to join, but it wasn't the Senators that said no. It has also been reported that Jordan Kyrou was an offering piece as well, but he would not waive his No-Trade Clause.

Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong revealed to reporters that the Blues were in on Tkachuk, but it did not work out. This interest in Tkachuk is a welcoming one, as the door is still open after the 2027-28 season. That is when Brady Tkachuk's contract runs out, and at that point, the Panthers championship window might be closed and the Blues might be in the running.

We could still see the Tkachuk brothers make their way to the 'Lou after all, but that is still a long way away. A lot has to happen between now and the offseason after the 2027-28 playthrough. For now, as Blues fans, let us enjoy one the best hockey players to wear the Blue Note's kids, who were born and raised in St. Louis, try to win a Stanley Cup together in Florida.
