There are a couple of teams that could use Binnington’s talents right now

The idea of Jordan Binnington being a hot trade piece right now is not a bad idea. It seems he has outplayed himself out of his starting role and his backup role is hurting this team.

To establish themselves as a potential contender in the Central Division, the Blues cannot rely solely on Joel Hofer all season long. They also cannot brace for a losing effort from Binnington every three to four games.

Looking around the league, there are a few teams that are in need of veteran goaltending and Binnington’s expiring contract could be enticing enough to take the risk. At this point, Binnington needs a new change of scenery, and the Blues unfortunately have to move in from their winningest goaltender in franchise history.

New York Rangers

With how things have gone wit the New York Rangers this season, losing Igor Shesterkin was such a deep cut. Luckily, Dylan Garand has stepped up and risen to the occasion, but that is a slippery slope.

There has been enough evidence to support that Garand is a solid fixture, but that could snap in a New York Minute.

If the Blueshirts are for real, which they seem to be, then going after Binnington is a must. We have all seen what he can do in the playoffs, and that is a key selling point. No. 50 has never been one to shy away from bright lights, and there are none brighter than that of Madison Square Garden.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto had a dramatic offseason, from the first overall pick in the most recent draft to going all in on Sergei Bobeovskt between the pipes. Unfortunately, both of those fronts have not lived up to the Maple Leafs expectations.

Throw in Binnington and the Maple Leafs look like a solid contender in the Atlantic. Using his elite skill playing the puck to some of the best forward in the game like William Nylander and Auston Matthews could catapult them.

Binnington, despite being a very unreliable goaltender in St. Louis, could benefit from being in one of the largest hockey markets in the world. That kind of pressure is what made him thrive. Plus, representing the biggest team in his home country of Canada is another positive here.

Buffalo Sabres

The ever growing speculation is that Connor Hellebuyck will become a Buffalo Sabre. It has been written upside down and backward at this point.

But, what if Hellebuyck doesn’t go there? The Sabres can be a dark horse pick to snatch up Binnington as they look to make their second straight playoff appearance.
