This Blue could set a new career record tonight

In the midst of all this losing, we have to highlight one player who's succeeding.

The St. Louis Blues are not having a good season. They're at the bottom of the standings with a 3-6-1 record, lousy goaltending, and a questionable defense group. It's bleak, and getting bleaker by the day, until they can string some wins together.

One bright spot in the darkness, though, is Jordan Kyrou, who's quietly having a decent start to the season. He has eight points in 10 games, and it just so happens that each of those eight points has come in consecutive games: he has an eight-game point streak running, tying his career best from way back in 2022.

If Kyrou registers a single point tonight, he sets a new career best point streak with nine games, and could even extend it to double digits this weekend.

That might not be too difficult to do, either. With Robert Thomas sidelined, Kyrou should take on an even more significant role on the power play, which would generate more scoring opportunities. The Blues are playing the Vancouver Canucks tonight, too, who are giving starting goaltender Thatcher Demko the night off--which means the Blues will face Kevin Lankinen.

Lankinen hasn't been too hot to start the season, sporting a 1-3-0 record, .873 SV%, and 3.74 GAA. Plus, per Money Puck, the Canucks have the third-highest expected Goals Against in the NHL with 27.38 and the worst expected Goal Differential at -6.14. Plainly: the Canucks aren't very good.

It's the perfect situation for Kyrou to extend his point streak to nine games, thus setting a new career record. He just has to go out there and do it.
