After a very productive and successful couple of weeks with the St. Louis Blues, first-round draft pick Justin Carbonneau was sent back to the QMJHL to further his development. In the first game of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada’s season, it is clear that this kid is going to wipe the floor with every major CHL award.
Just two minutes into the game, Carbonneau ripped a one-timer past the opposing goaltender. You can see all that time working on his shot after practice with the Blues is paying off.

Then, with the game well away at 5-0 in the second period, Carbonneau finds himself alone on the power play once again. After a nice dish from defenseman Xavier Villeneuve, No. 8 finds twine once again via a one-timer.

Can Carbonneau be the next Alexander Ovechkin?
Wasting time?
An argument can be made that sending Carbonneau back to the Junior level was a good idea. There is also a valid point that it might be a waste of time and talent.
No matter what the case is, there will be a time for the young superstar in the making to make his way onto the Blues roster. More importantly, whenever he does arrive, a designated spot will be made for him, and not just slotting him wherever there is room.
Carbonneau has to remember that even though he is ripping the opposition to shreds right now, it will not be like that when he gets a shot with the Blues. There is a vast difference between the two leagues, and even though he saw preseason action, that was not anything like the real thing.
There are high hopes that Carbonneau can be the next great goal scorer for the Blues. At this point, in just his first game of the QMJHL season, it appears things are going according to plan.
